John and Suellen Foust

John and Suellen Foust

Despite only moving in slightly more than a year ago, River Landing at Sandy Ridge (RLSR) residents, Society members, and Development Committee members John and Suellen Foust became connected to Brightspire over two decades ago. They were not the first in their family to move to RLSR. John’s mother, Margaret, lived at The Presbyterian Home of High Point before moving to RLSR in 2003, where she lived for 13 years before she passed in 2016. Suellen’s father, Benjamin Smith, moved in shortly before they did in the spring of 2022. John and Suellen had the opportunity to witness the care that Brightspire and RLSR provided residents even before they moved in, which is why they decided to include the Foundation in their estate plans. “No one is ever asked to leave River Landing for financial reasons,” Suellen says, “because the Foundation is there to fulfill a promise.”

John and Suellen are passionate about supporting resident financial assistance at RLSR. “We started contributing to the Foundation years before we moved here, and we’ve included the Foundation in our estate plans,” John shares. “River Landing is our family, and we’re thankful to be part of this special community. All of us who are residents are benefitting from the promise of security made by those who came before us. We have the opportunity and responsibility to keep that promise alive.”
